Pranic Yoga

Yoga is an ancient science of spiritual connectivity through physical and mental practices. It is the indigenous ways of South Asian Indians, a gift shared with the world so that all can access a balanced and purposeful life.

Yoga is a pathway out of suffering into wholeness. I honor the full spectrum of the practice, carrying these teaching with integrity and respect for their source.

Yoga as an Adaptive Practice

Yogas-Citta-Vrtti-Nirodhah

Yoga is the calming of the mind waves

  • What we all need at any given moment for our wellness changes. Yoga in its true nature always adapts itself to the present moment and conditions.

  • We all have a body, a mind and we all breath, therefor we can all practice yoga. There is a piece here for you and I will help you discover it.

  • Yoga is NOT a one size fits all approach. It is a dynamic and varying practice that, if matched with the right teacher can help you create a healthy relationship to your body, mind, emotions and surrounding world.

Compassionate dialogue

Each session begins with a verbal check-in. This dialogue is open and inquisitive in nature giving me a clearer picture of your intention. This dialogue informs us both of how best to proceed with practice.

Compassionate Guided Self-Inquiry and Visualization:

A form of guided meditation, I will lead you mentally into your physical body to explore tension, release, breath and relaxation.

Postures & Movement (Asana):

The intention here is to find a calm steady state within your body while moving through different shapes. Each shape or posture will target different and specific areas of your physical and energetic anatomy to release what needs to go while strengthening that which will support you.

Breath Exercise (Pranayama):

Healthy lungs equals a healthy life. Physically, everything down to your cells need to pulse with inhale, exhale and pause to maintain optimal functioning. Energetically, the breath carries and moves Prana, the vital life force of energy that animates you moves, shifts emotions and focuses the mind. Breath brings you to life, moving you from a fixed state allowing you to receive inspiration.

Hands-on Assisting:

With permission from you I will offer support and guidance by way of physical touch. Myofascial Release assisting addresses both your connective tissue and nervous system allowing you to safely ease into the shape. Assists also help you guide your breath and effort to different parts of the body, giving you the awareness of where to soften tension and where to engage.

Meditation (Dhyana):

I act as a rope that tethers you to your point of focus during a meditation practice, a gentle reminder of the instruction. With multiple ways to practice meditation we can find the right practice for you to explore on a regular basis at home. Not just a sitting practice, you will learn the characteristics and qualities of the mind and how yours behaves so it becomes your ally.

Lifestyle Ethics (Yamas & Nyamas; Philosophy & Spirituality):

The yoga you study on your mat reflects teachings of how to live your life with grace, compassionately relating to yourself, others and the earth. The wisdom of yoga and your opportunity to practice goes with you everywhere. Wherever your mind is, yoga can be practiced. Yogic philosophy teaches you how to live a life of yoga, helping you navigate relationships and your creative process.
